The Château de Franqueville is the 3rd built in the town of Bizanos. The two previous ones were fortified castles, built in the same place. The view made it possible to see visitors coming from afar heading towards Pau.
Mountaineer and botanist emeritus, Norman of origin, Count Albert de Franqueville moved to the castle of Bizanos on February 6, 1854. The benefits of the Béarnais climate praised at that time, as well as his passion for the Pyrenean peaks had motivated this choice. He will take part in the first ascent of the Pic d'Aneto, the highest point in the Pyrenees.
