Description

A hilly route between hills and forests that will lead you to the doors of the sanctuary of Saint Quitterie. The legend: she would be a Visigoth prince raised, without her family's knowledge, in the Catholic religion. Having vowed her virginity to Christ, she rejected the advances of a Visigoth prince named Germain, she fled and took refuge in the religious community of Aire. Numerous miracles enabled her to convert Leutimanus, the king of the region. Found by Euric's soldiers, she was condemned to death in 472 and then beheaded on May 22, 476 in the current rue Sainte-Quitterie. Legend has it that angels appeared and asked her to take her head in her arms and carry it to the marble tomb where it is today in the crypt. Saint Quitteria was canonized in 585 at the Council of Toledo. This saint had a great influence.

The church of Bournos

Take the road towards Aubin alongside the town hall, then turn left opposite a red-roofed Béarnaise house. opposite a Béarnaise house with a red roof. At the start of the descent, turn right onto the path leading down into the of the Sampay stream. Cross the bridge and head back up into the woods.

Etape 2

At the small ridge, turn left and head uphill. Pass the farm and continue straight ahead straight on until you reach the shrine of Ste Quitterie and the D40.

Etape 3

At the crossroads leading to the chapel, turn left to cross the D40 onto a wide gravel track. Take care! Visibility is poor and there is no pedestrian crossing. Turn left for 100 m at the junction with the D206, then right at the crow's feet, and right into the small car park overlooking the hillside lake. Cross the small on the left to stay on the path overlooking the lake and enter the coniferous wood at the top of the hill. From Back on the tarmac, turn right to join the path running alongside the D40.

Etape 4

Follow this lane to the first small roundabout, turn right towards the centre of Doumy, then left towards the D40 and left again onto the footpath. Cross over to take the D208 towards Bournos. Take care on this narrow, winding road. At the stadium crossroads, turn left towards the church.
