N22morlaas - Copie
1440x1005

Description

This varied mountain bike circuit takes you through the valleys and hills of Montardon in a tranquil atmosphere. Few difficulties
but a few climbs will prepare you for more challenging ventures
other parts of our territory.
Did you know that over a century ago, this area was the scene of human activity?
Les Marlères were limestone quarries. This rock, extracted with pickaxes, was transported by horse-drawn carriage to private kilns where it was heated to obtain lime which, before the advent of concrete, was used to make mortar for the construction industry. The "chaufournier", in charge of the kiln, built a vault from limestone, under which he placed wood. It took 48 hours of heating and 17 steres.
