Description

TOURISTIC BIKE TRAIL - THE ITINERARY OF THE 2ND ARMOURED DIVISION IN THE VOSGES
Liberation in the plain of the Vosges.
The 2nd Armoured Division arrived in the Vosges by Vrécourt. The biggest tank battle of the Western Front took place in Dompaire. It happened just after the capture of Contrexéville, when a Wehrmacht convalescent centre was set up at the Cosmos Hotel (Contrexéville), after the liberation of the internment camp in the Vittel Thermal Park. The presence of more than one tenth of the terminals of the 2nd Armoured Division of France in the plain of the Vosges is not insignificant. Along the way, stelae, monuments, commemorative plaques, revive all these sites full of history.
Starting point Madonne and Lamerey 190km marked route.
