The leisure centre is built around its two lakes, a short distance from the centre of the village, in country surroundings. It covers about 10 hectares. In summer, it is an ideal spot for relaxing with your family or friends. You can go for baths, walks between the two lakes, go fishing, or go for a run.You'll be able to develop your skills in complete safety, away from cars and the noise of everyday life. At the heart of the site is a large play area for children, as well as sports fields (soccer, basketball) for teenagers. In the heart of historical Samoens, the old market and the "Large Lime Tree" evoke days gone by, while still remaining a lively meeting place at the very centre of local life.The "Gros Tilleul" (large lime tree), which symbolises the town of Samoens, was planted in 1438 to celebrate a ruling handed down by Duke Amadeus VIII of Savoy, stating that the inhabitants of Samoens owned the Frétérolle, Chardonnière, Vigny and Cuidex alpine meadows in the neighbouring Manche valley. The "Gros Tilleul" is quite remarkable for its age and size. This famous landmark has been immortalised by numerous local authors, poets and musicians through the ages.
