CIRCUIT DU PLATEAU D'ALGRANGE

The Notre-Dame des Neiges chapel in Beuvange-sous-Saint-Michel was built in 1805. The architecture is simple, with a single nave ending in a flat chevet, and no particular decoration. It houses a Baroque-inspired high altar dating from 1715, with a later lower section. The whole must have been modified during the 18th century. It also features a polychrome high relief, dated 1586, depicting Saint Michael slaying the dragon. This sculpture was moved to the chapel in 1840, when the hermitage on Mont Saint Michel, from which it originates, was in danger of collapsing.

Ce site naturel se compose d’une pelouse sèche à Brome érigé. Elle se trouve sur un plateau dont les versants sont occupés par une forêt de hêtres. Ce site naturel correspond à la partie sud d’une vaste entité de pelouses calcicole qui s’étend sur l’ensemble du plateau des deux communes de Nilvange et Algrange. La Communauté d’Agglomération du Val de Fensch, ayant dans ses responsabilités l’environnement, gère ce site avec le Conservatoire d'espaces naturels de Lorraine.
