The attractions of the route
An olfactory forest bath under the branches perfumed by the tangy essences of deciduous trees and conifers.
A stimulating route to put your body in motion, release the tensions of everyday life and set off to the ridge line then cross the passes of Croix du Ban and La Luère.
A bit of indulgence with autumnal flavours! A nourishing tree of the undergrowth, the chestnut tree sheds its fruit between September and November, it is time to bring back some chestnuts that have fallen along the paths*.
The fragile beauty of the massif, most of which is classified as a Sensitive Natural Area under the name of Crêts boisés de l’Ouest Lyonnais.
When and how to take advantage of it?
A hike to be planned preferably during the week to benefit from the tranquillity of the undergrowth; the paths are very popular with mountain bikers on weekends. In summer for the coolness and the shade of the trees, ¾ of the route is in the forest. By sharing the affectionate company of a pony or a donkey who will carry the snack. For athletes: by combining climbing and active walking. One Sunday every two months, the Val Roc association organises free climbing sessions at Salle Lionel Daudet in Pollionay.
