The shortest route to the Basilica square takes 45 minutes on foot. The return journey takes less time, just 30 minutes for the most direct route.
The most direct route up from the Tourist Office is as follows: walk down the Canebière to Quai des Belges. Pass under Norman Foster's shade to walk along the Quai de Rive-Neuve. At the ferry landing, turn left into Rue Fort Notre-Dame, which leads up to Place de la Corderie, Henry Bergasse. Then take the Rue des Brusques, which leads to the Cours Pierre Puget. Reach the entrance to the Puget hill garden and follow the winding road through the garden to reach Rue Abbé Dassy. Make another effort to climb Rue Vauvenargues. The climb ends with the Montée de l'Oratoire Way of the Cross.
