A refreshing stroll on the banks of the Chéran. When discovering this wild river, with its gold prospectors and its abundant fish, one could almost believe he is in Canada.
Although it is easy, the way back on the right bank after the detour to the Chaos is slightly steeper. Be careful, the last part of this hike follows a narrow road with low visibility.
Children, as long as they are good walkers, can do this hike.
This 2h30 long hike can easily be extended to up to 3 or 4h, if you take breaks to admire the river, the Chaos and read all the explanatory panels. You may also have a picnic on the small pebble beaches. This pleasant walk can be done any time of the year, even in autumn, when the forest takes its most beautiful colours, and you may see cyclamens bloom in the undergrowth. A little warning : the ice in winter can make this trail a bit tougher.
If you are with very young children, you should start at the Cusy footbridge, and cross the Chéran to go on the right bank for a quicker access to the river...
Do not forget your hiking shoes and your lunch.
At the Abîme car park you will find a lavatory and drinkable water.
