The rock paintings at Saint Jean d'Arvey were discovered by chance in 1972. They date back to the Bronze Age (minus 5000 minus 2000 BC) and probably represent an extreme example of Spanish symbolic art. The geological layout has naturally protected them from run-off and, miraculously, they have not been destroyed by man over time.
