Description

Close of the city-center of Cluses, "Le chemin à Bruno" offers walk to get away quickly from the hustle and bustle.

Step-by-step guide: From Cluses to the Chevran panorama (1h40) : From the Tourist Office, take Rue du 8 mai (to the right of the town hall), pass the Zanin chocolate factory, cross the railway line and continue straight ahead on Boulevard du Chevran. At the ‘Michel Vaillant’ company, take the Chemin de St-Sigismond up into the forest. At the top of the road, turn right towards Panorama du Chevran. At the junction, take the path that climbs towards Le Chevran. Go straight up the hill, then immediately turn right at the tree. When the paths split, take the lower path and continue straight on uphill. Once you reach the top path, turn left to reach the viewpoint. From the panorama to Cluses (1h20): Retrace your steps and find the path you came on on your right. Continue straight on down to the plain, then turn left towards ‘Chevran du bas/Croix verte’. Continue downhill until you reach the road. At the wooden cross, turn left and take the path below the road. At the crossroads, turn left onto the track leading down to ‘Montoulivet’. After passing the house, continue straight ahead on the footpath at the bend in the road. Stay on this path until you reach the stream, then take the bridge on your left onto the lower path, still heading towards Montoulivet. Stay on this path until you come to the St-Sigismond path you came from.

Clockmaking and Screwmachining Museum

Discover the Museum, a real timepiece of the industrial and social history of the Arve's valley. Follow the evolution of the farmer-watchmakers' skills from the XVIIIth century until the advent of the screwcutting technology during the industrial revolution.Original by its history and its collections, the museum is worth the trip. Instituted at the early XXth century by the National School of Clockmaking of Cluses, the museum used to have 2 vocations : to collect ancient time measure instruments (oldest piece is from 16e century) and to save the local industrial memories. Located into the Espace Carpano & Pons, an old factory, the museum presents also the story of the National School of Clockmaking by presenting unique pieces of clockmaking made by the pupils in Cluses. Theme guided tours, theatric visits, workshops, temporary exhibitions are organized all the year round and will make you discover the treasures of the museum. For schools, from kindergarten to high school, we offer tailor-made activities in small groups. We suggest dividing your classes in advance to create smaller groups, thus facilitating the exploration of our workshops and collections. Adapted workshops are also available for school groups with disabilities. The Museum holds the Tourism and Disability label, and our team is fully aware of welcoming visitors with disabilities.
