Description
This hike is a real link between the communes of Grésy-sur-Aix and Mouxy.
This itinerary takes you to the Mouxy station, a moving tribute to the old cogwheel train that, until 1937, took you up to the Revard station. The route offers superb views of the Revard massif, the Dent du Chat and Lac du Bourget.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step
1/ Turn right towards "le Gent". 2/ At the hamlet of Le Gent, continue towards Les Choseaux, then turn left at the roundabout. The route climbs up to the hamlet of Hautins. 3/ At the entrance to the housing estate, leave the road on the narrow path between the houses. 4/ At Clos des Peupliers, turn right to join Route des Fillards, then climb to Les Choseaux. 5/ At Les Choseaux, follow the signs to "Gare de la Crémaillère". The trail crosses pastures and fields, offering fine views of the Revard, before entering the undergrowth of the Baye gorges. 6/ Once you reach the hamlet of Bartelins in the commune of Pugny-Chatenod, take the path down towards the station, before reaching the Massonats reservoir. 7/ At the hairpin bend, cross and follow the road to the left (beware of traffic), before taking the path above the reservoir. After the undergrowth, the view opens up, offering fine vistas of Lac du Bourget and the Dent du Chat. 8/ At the road junction, the rack railway station is just a few steps away on the left. 9/ Retrace your steps to point 8, following the signs for "chef lieu de Grésy-sur-Aix". After overlooking the Aixam company, follow the road on the left for a few dozen metres, before crossing and taking the small road on the right, following the signs. 10/ Take the left-hand route through the hamlet of Les Massonats. On leaving the village (beware of dangerous road crossings). The path goes deep into the undergrowth and crosses the Foran stream. Follow it, then turn left after a few dozen meters. The path ends in a steep slope leading to the meadow. 11/ Turn right before crossing the footbridge over the nant de la Baye. The fairly steep path climbs up to the vineyard path. 12/ Cross the montée des Rubens road and head for Les Hautins. The return to the village takes the same route as the outward journey.
