A short but tough circuit through wooded valleys to discover two churches, Massels and Sainte-Quitterie, classified as Historic Monuments. Sainte-Quitterie's church, which is largely Romanesque, was given an open chapel in the south wall of the nave in the Gothic period. Long hidden under the whitewash, paintings from the end of the 15th century are now reappearing, saved by a conservation and restoration program carried out over many months. These paintings cover the entire walls and vaults. Each wall of the chapel is divided into three superimposed registers, themselves delimited by compartments formed by arcatures resting on fine columns. The vaults, also decorated, are divided into two figures on a background alternately red ochre or yellow ochre. Visits: Massels town hall 05 53 95 40 79 - OT Penne 05 53 41 37 80
