Casteljaloux is known for its eventful past and for its thermal waters, attracting visitors and curists.
Founded in the 9th century, the town was, until 1241, the seat of a commandery of the Knights of St John. The history of the town reached its peak between the 11th and 16th centuries, when it was the stronghold of the famous Albret family
Casteljaloux has sulphurous and ferruginous waters of great renown. Abandoned for a long time, the town rediscovered its thermal vocation during the 20th century
This tour will take you close to the thermal centre and you will be able to see the lake of Clarens, a very popular place in the region. During this walk you will also discover the town of Casteljaloux with its narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses and you will cross forests of sandy moors.
