Nestled at the gateway to the Landes, on the banks of the river Oubise, the commune of Caubeyres is rich in a remarkable architectural heritage. In addition to its two churches and its castle, you can also visit its farms, the oldest of which date from the 17th century.
Caubeyres knew, very early, to take advantage of its forest which covers 4/5 of its ground. Thus, the bark of the locust tree is used for leather tanning and that of the cork oak for the manufacture of corks.
Moreover, Caubeyres was one of the first communes in France to test the cultivation of tobacco in 1863.
Nowadays, tobacco growing has been abandoned, but the forest attracts many tourists. This circuit will offer you a nice panorama on the castle, a view on the Garonne hillsides, and a pleasant walk on the wooded paths of Albret. A spring from which water gushes out in small bubbles will catch your attention.
