This loop is the most physical of the three proposed in the Confluent. The main climbs are at Bazens (approx. 7% over 1500 m), St-Salvy (5% over 1800 m), Grand Tour (7% over 900 m) and St-Médard (6% over 1800 m).
From the promontory village of Clermont-Dessous, dominated by its fortified church and castle, the route descends into the Masse valley. On the hill opposite, Bazens was the episcopal court of the bishops of Agen in the 16th century.
