Description

Like the Anitch and Pirait, the Layens is a must-do. What sets it apart is its incredible row of bends on the grass. A long panoramic crossing builds you up to the moment you dive in: 850m descent in one go!

Steps

Ascent to Col d'Hourataté

From the churchs'square, start from the centre towards La Pierre Saint Martin. Go up the street and turn left between two houses just before a little square surrounded by rocky ground. Head along the canal and pick up the D442. Begin the long ascent protected from the sun to reach the Col d'Hourataté.

Back to Osse

Stay on this steepening dirt track. It's fast and look out for drainage channels (but ideal for manual and bunny hopping!). Pick up a concrete path and go up the trail on the right. The trail is narrow so be careful if you have wide handlebars! Cross a road, go down it for 10m and head onto a small trail. Watch out for the very tight last bend. Pass Soupervielle Mill and go down to Osse.

Magical path

It's like it's been made for mountain bikes! But it's actually man who laid the path, not for leisure but to get supplies to shepherd cabins. We'd like to thank them!

Go past the washhouse when you enter Osse and along the canal. The wall isn't very high and it's easy to get out...
