Boucle de Merle

Description

Who can imagine that in the country of castles, villages and hamlets with white stones, a strange history took place from the end of the 19th century, which is still alive in our memories: that of coal mining, lime and brick making. On this peaceful circuit, accessible to all, fountains, pigeon lofts, and the remarkable village of Cladech, away from the hectic tourist life, all a forgotten life resounds. This beautiful little loop in 8 around the village of Cladech, passes through the villages of Merle, and Malvie. The mining adventure in Périgord is well there. It is also one of the stages of the journey in Dordogne of Harrison Barker, an English traveller of the 19th century, who wrote books to relate his experiences in contact with the populations of the south of France. "Two Summers in Guyenne, chronicle of the wayside and waterside".
