In the 14th century, Antonne and Trigonant (Anthona, Tregonan) were two distinct parishes forming part of the châtellenie of Auberoche. When the cantons were created in 1790, the commune of Antonne became the chief town of the canton. Included in the urban area of Périgueux, the municipality of Antonne-et-Trigonant is bordered to the east and south by the Isle, the main tributary of the Dordogne, while to the north, nearly a third of the municipal territory is occupied by the state forest of Lanmary. You can take a trip to meet the King of the Chauzes, a legendary character whose throne can be seen after a very pleasant hike in pine woods with beautiful clearings and remarkable views. Hidden in the woods, the castle of Caussade is a rare example of 15th century military architecture in the Périgord.
