Le Sentier des paysages de Cadouin
Description
Come and discover the Cadouin landscape trail. It is made up of 5 stations overlooking the village and offers you as many different views of the Cadouin site! It invites you to discover the evolution of the landscape, from the choice of the site by the monks more than 800 years ago to the contemporary landscape of the 21st century... Note two other discovery tours: a heritage walk in the village and the pilgrims' loop.

Abbaye de Cadouin
Classée monument historique, l'abbaye de Cadouin a été fondée en 1115 dans un étroit vallon au sud de la Dordogne. Dès 1119, elle a été rattachée à Cîteaux (abbaye bourguignonne fondée en 1098 à partir de laquelle Saint Bernard, qui y fit profession en 1113, diffusa la réforme dite cistercienne). Cadouin est très vite devenue la plus prestigieuse abbaye périgourdine. Sa notoriété s'est en grande partie construite autour d'une pièce de tissu qui a longtemps été considérée comme le Saint Suaire. Un important pèlerinage s'est développé autour de cette relique ce qui a enrichi l'abbaye.
