Turning their backs on the Dordogne valley, wooded areas appear on the hillsides, pierced on the heights by agricultural clearings. Gradually, the limestone soil of the causse becomes more prominent. The geological boundary between Cretaceous and Jurassic limestone can be seen in the many low walls and dry-stone huts that bear witness to the past extent of cultivation. The hilly landscape is marked by steep, wooded slopes. Truffle and walnut trees dot the landscape.
