Lac du Mont-Cenis
Description
The first part of the circuit crosses the south side of the valley, overlooking the Esseillon forts and the pine forests of Sardières, home to the famous Monolith. After Lanslebourg, a steep but steady climb leads to the beautiful panorama of Mont Cenis.
The climb from Lanslebourg runs through a shady larch forest to the open meadows of the Col du Mont-Cenis. It is worth continuing to the Mont-Cenis Pyramid, which houses a local history museum, and the adjoining Alpine Garden. This climb has kilometre markers betwin Lanslebourg and the Col du Mont-Cenis.
