Cirque de Campuls
Description
You'll enjoy magnificent scenery all the way to the final cirque at the Campuls hut. This route is ideal for mountain lovers, and can also be done in winter on snowshoes.

1/ Start from Lac de Bethmale (1074m).
From the car park, cross the bridge and walk straight ahead (do not head towards the lake). After the barn (on the right), continue on the Mount Ner track which climbs to the right.
2/ Continue on this forest track, which twists and turns through the Bethmale forest for 7km.
3/ From the Mount Ner area, you can admire the panoramic view over the Bethmale valley.
4/ Continue along this path for around 20 minutes until you reach the
5/ Campuls cirque (1,445 m)
A VARIATION that allows you to cut some of the twists and turns in the track.
100 m After an initial 90-degree turn to the right, the track begins to rise gently through the forest. You begin to see the beauty of the terrain nearby. 2km later, you come to an area clear of vegetation and the track curves sharply to the left.
Km 1.6 Keep going for another 50 metres and you will see a track on your left running through the forest in a south-south-westerly direction. Follow it for 200 metres and you will come to a barn, on the forest track you left 5 minutes ago.
Km 1.8 Continue in the same direction, south-south-west, for around 500 metres to climb the ridge. As you climb, you will pass a ruined barn halfway up the slope, then a second in much better condition (point 1383).
After this little effort, you are back on the Mount Ner track, but this shortcut saves you from the big loop in the Cadus Forest, which is pointless.
Km 2.7 Turn right (heading west) and stay on this track until you reach the finish.
Km 4.8 After the Mont Noir barns, there will be a fence to go through. The track continues through a magnificent fir forest before leading to the Cabane de Campuls cirque.
Km 9.6 From the Cabane de Campuls, return along the same route.
