You pass close to the Aiguilles d'Arves at the Basse du Gerbier (2581 m).
Strictly below the "Tête de Chat" (3364 m). A mountain hike for regular walkers, but with no particular technical difficulties.
Unusual bed and breakfast close to the "Aiguilles d'Arves". Snack possible.In Saint Jean d'Arves, at 2150m of altitude, it is an old family chalet used by the grand parents' owner, in summer, to leave the cows in the pastures and make hay. The chalet has been undergoing renovation since the summer of 2016 and is accessible walking from Entraigues (Saint Jean d'Arves) in about 3 hours (900 meters of elevation over 7km) or from Le Chalmieu (Albiez-Montrond) walking by the Basse du Gerbier. The chalet is equipped with spring water and has electricity by solar panels. Dry toilets and water point nearby. Inside, on the ground floor, a kitchen, a large living room, a bathroom (under construction) and the owner's bedroom. Upstairs there is the dormitory with 10 places. These are "baflants" (one big bed for evrey guest) with mattresses next to each other, fitted with bed sheets, duvet cushions and blankets Obligation to have sleeping bags. (blanket prohibited due to bed fleas). Outside, a terrace to enjoy the sunset over the Belledonne massif on one side and Les Aiguilles d'Arves on the other.
At the Sherpa supermarket on the Col du Mollard, you'll find: a fine butchery-cheese-catering department, regional products, fresh bread... As well as roast chicken on Wednesdays and Sundays, and fresh fish on Thursdays (reservations recommended).Grocery, butcher's, delicatessen, rotisserie, delicatessen, cheese shop, culinary specialities: mountain beef sausages, fresh bread depot, regional products, parapharmacy, souvenirs, local press, sale of snow chains... Raclette and fondue prepared to order. Roast chicken on Wednesdays and Sundays and fresh fish on Thursdays, booking recommended. Enjoy the lake, its fantastic surroundings and great facilities for all. Picnic areas, boules, volleyball. Free parking.This lovely lake is the perfect place for a relaxing swim. Swimming is supervised in season, and the lake is divided into two sections (bathing to a maximum depth of 1.50 m and bathing to a maximum depth of 5 m). For younger children, a natural paddling pool adjoins the lake. Around the lake, you'll find 7 picnic tables, public toilets, a snack bar, children's games, volleyball and petanque courts. Coming directly from the resort's springs, the water is clean and cool (23.5° at the height of summer). It's a comfortable place to swim. From the diving platform or from your towel, you can admire the panoramic view of Mont Emy, the Aiguilles d'Arves, the Corbier and La Toussuire resorts and the village's chief town. An ideal place for all ages to swim, play, sunbathe, relax, picnic and enjoy the summer! Chalet d'la Croë offers you a unique experience: sleeping under the stars at the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves. There are three ways to do this: - rent a single pitch and bring your own camping gear - rent a pitch with a tent, mattress and comforter - reserve a geodesic dome with a real bed for an unusual night's sleep Beware: at 2000 m altitude, nights are chilly. On-site chickens, goats, dogs and sometimes cows! Accommodation is located outside the chalet. There are : - Three geodesic domes: 2 five-place domes (two double beds and one single bed) 1 three-place dome (one large double bed) They are unheated and not shared with others for your privacy. The front of the domes has a beautiful view of the Belledonne mountain range. - An area for bivouacs and overnight stays in tents Overnight stays include dinner and breakfast on a half-board basis. The evening meal is a unique "home-made" menu or a Savoyard Fondue menu on reservation (supplement of 4€/pers for adults). 1/ Day 1: Col du Mollard -> Chalet d'la Croë 8 km / D+ 517 m / D- 81 m
From Col du Mollard, continue 100 m on the D80, turning slightly left onto Rue du Ravarin towards La Frédière.
At the Échaux chairlift, turn left onto Route de la Praz. Continue towards La Frédière.
At La Frédière, go back down to Rieu Gilbert, then up through the Sur la Broue chalet.
Rejoin the road, continue uphill, then turn left onto the path towards Les Chabottes.
At the signpost for Sur le Torrent, turn right onto the track.
Take the left-hand track to Chalet d'la Croë.
2/ DAY 2: Chalet d'la Croë -> Chalet du Perron : 8.3 km / D+ 536 m / D-463 m
Take the path south from Chalet d'la Croë to join the track at Bassin.
At La Motte turn left, leaving a chalet on your right, cross the stream and follow the ridge to Plan Pradin.
At Plan Pradin, turn slightly right towards Tête de Chat.
At the signpost below Tête de Chat, turn right and follow the ridge to Basse du Gerbier.
Turn left and follow the ridge after 2 zigzags to the La Crête point, continuing downhill to the Col.
From the Col, descend through the mountain pastures to the Chalet du Perron.
3/ DAY 3: Chalet du Perron -> Col du Mollard : 14.9 km / D+ 670 m / D- 1182 m From Chalet du Perron, take the track towards Entraigues, which crosses alpine pastures and then descends into the forest. Continue as far as Sous Pré Coton, then turn right to go up to Pré Coton and the Forêt de la Fréchette. Then descend to Belleville, where you must turn right onto the Route des Arves. Follow the road for 150 m, then turn right to go up to Montrond. At Montrond La Ville, turn left and take the road up to Sous La Feisse. Take the track in the hairpin bend to reach La Saussaz. Follow the road to La Villette sud, turn left through the hamlet and take the path up to Col du Mollard.
