La Baronne Path

Description

In the shade of hundred-year-old oaks, the Grésigne national forest will give your walk a special flavour.
Take advantage of the beautiful combinations of colours and the coolness of the forest in hot weather!

The Grésigne state forest is the largest in the Tarn and one of the largest oak forests in Europe. It is the third richest forest in Europe in terms of insects, with 2,400 distinct families, after the Fontainebleau massif and the Bialoweja reserve in Poland. This entomological wealth was also the reason why the forest was classified as a Natura 2000 site in 2007. Special management measures are applied in the forest to preserve this particularity: by conserving old trees and increasing the amount of dead wood left on the ground.
