Description

Halfway between Lascaux and Les Eyzies, Saint-Léon is in the heart of the "Valley of Man". Occupied since prehistoric times, as attested by the remains of the Conquil site, Saint-Léon owes its name to one of the first bishops of Périgueux. Located near a Roman road, this village was above all, until the appearance of the railway, a flourishing port on the Vézère, to the point of deserving the name of Port-Léon during the Revolution. From the cemetery chapel at the eastern entrance to the village, the road leads past the Château de Clérans and the Manoir de la Salle to a 12th-century Romanesque church with a roof made of stone, which is the venue for the Périgord Noir music festival
Starting point "parking of Saint-Léon-Sur-Vézère".
