Chemin de Barker en Vallée Dordogne Etape 1

Description

Harrison Barker was an English traveller who wrote books about his experiences in the south of France. "Two Summers in Guyenne, chronicle of the wayside and waterside" tells of his travels in the Dordogne. This first stage will lead you from Sarlat to Domme. In the historic centre of Sarlat, you will pass by the House of La Boëtie, the Saint Sacerdos cathedral and the Sainte Marie church transformed by the architect Jean Nouvel into a covered market and its bell tower housing a panoramic lift.further on, the bastide of Domme, built in 1281 at the top of a rocky spur by the French king Philippe III le hardi, has a defensive system that has been preserved. The ramparts are still in place as well as the three doors giving access to the city. The door of the Towers is the most visited because of the graffiti left by imprisoned Templars.
