The Vézelay route is one of the great pilgrimage routes used by a thousand pilgrims each year who come from the north of Europe before entering France and reaching Vézelay, one of the great departures identified for the French routes.
Leaving Saint Astier, you will admire the nearby castle of Puyferrat which offers a magnificent pilgrim's refuge. Then you will pass near Douzillac and its fortified Romanesque church of Saint Vincent. You will cross Saint Louis en l'Isle (church of Saint Louis XIIth century) then Sourzac and its church Saint Pierre with its bell tower, priory and petrifying fountain. You will then arrive in Mussidan and its church of Saint Georges.
