Description
Harrison Barker was an English traveller who wrote books about his experiences in the south of France. "Two Summers in Guyenne, chronicle of the wayside and waterside" recounts his travels in the Dordogne
At the start of this fifth stage, you will admire the abbey of Cadouin which, like all Cistercian abbeys, was built in a thick forest that is still omnipresent today. The abbey was founded by Geraud de Salles who lived as a hermit for a few years, before being affiliated to the Cistercian order in 1119
Then go to Le Buisson de Cadouin and its Romanesque church in the hamlet of Cabans
Finally, at the end of this stage and of the itinerary, you will go to the Buisson de Cadouin station, opened in August 1863 on the Niversac-Agen line.

Le Buisson de Cadouin
A l’origine, le village du Buisson était un hameau rattaché à la commune de Cabans. L’arrivée du chemin de fer au milieu du XIXème siècle entraina un développement rapide du Buisson, dont Cabans devint un hameau. Dès lors le village s’appela : le Buisson-Cabans. Il reste à Cabans l’église de base romane remaniée aux XIVème et XVIème siècles. En 1960 lors de la fusion avec Cussac, le Buisson devient le Buisson-Cussac, puis en 1974, le Buisson de Cadouin lors de son association avec Cadouin et Paleyrac.
La gare du Buisson
La gare du Buisson a été ouverte en août 1863 sur la ligne Niversac - Agen. Cette gare est desservie par les Trains Express Régionaux d’Aquitaine sur la ligne Bordeaux-Bergerac- Sarlat.
