In 1908, a young English student, T E Lawrence, was fascinated by the medieval period. He decided to cycle around France on the trail of Richard the Lionheart. This second stage will take us from Mussidan to Périgueux along the Isle Valley. Just after Bourgnac you will see the castle of Montreal and then crossing the Crempsoulie valley, the castle of Maupas.
From Saint Séverin d'Estissac the road parallel to the river leads to Vallereuil and its Romanesque church. Then on to the castle of Grignols, hidden behind a hill. After a passage near Saint Astier, you will arrive in Périgueux and its Byzantine cathedral.
