The commune of La Rochebeaucourt-Et-Argentine abounds in an extraordinary biodiversity where large wetlands of the Nizonne rub shoulders with limestone causses whose network of quarries shelters numerous species of bats.
With a real mosaic of vegetation (rocky slab plants, dry grasslands, juniper moors, heaths, pubescent oak forests), the Argentine plateau NATURA 2000 site is considered to be the richest group of calcareous grasslands in the Dordogne.
The site is home to 353 plant species of which fifteen are protected.
Nearly 200 animal species, 24 of which are of community interest, complete this inventory (great murine, woodlark, ocellated lizard).
