Départ

Partir en direction de la Fonderie Messier. Au niveau d’un portail, suivre le chemin sur la droite qui longe l’usine. Prendre à droite un sentier qui monte assez raide. En haut de la montée et au niveau d’un gros bloc rocheux, tourner à gauche, marcher jusqu’à une cabane. De là prendre à droite, traverser le plateau en passant des haies.

La préhistoire

L’histoire de l’homme en Ossau commence dans les grottes d’Arudy. Les premières traces datent d’il y a environ 16000 ans. Ces chasseurs-cueilleurs suivaient les troupeaux d’herbivores pour la chasse. Ils se nourrissaient de viande de bouquetin, de renne, mais aussi d’escargots, de racines et de graminées. Ils fabriquaient des outils en os et en pierre, maitrisaient la poterie et utilisaient l’ocre rouge comme peinture. Vous pouvez retrouver plus d'informations au Musée d'Ossau d'Arudy
