Let yourself be captivated by the unique atmosphere of the wooded meander of the Semois! Walks will delight you with its breath-taking lookout, its dolmen or the Grea former watchtower, or even its beautiful little path going along the river Semois. Sometimes in the heart of the forest, sometimes on pretty country paths, this walk is full of charm in any season.

The charming village of Chassepierre is set in a narrow valley facing a loop of the Semois. A real paradise for painters who appreciate its architecture, calmness and landscapes. It is included on the list of “most beautiful villages in Wallonia”. Chassepierre is also very well known for its International Street Arts Festival held every summer on the penultimate weekend of August. Want more? Cross over Pont Charreau with its lion gargoyles to reach the charming village of Termes. Then you will find a lovely view over the Semois in Breuvanne before heading to the Gros Cron in Lahage. On the way you will see the captivating lime tree in Gérouville, the beautiful Orval Abbey and the Gallo-Roman site of Chameleux.

10 May 1940. The Germans pushed rapidly through the Belgian Ardennes and went round the famous Maginot Line. It didn’t suffered at all, except in Villy where the German army bombarded the fortified structure with over 250 cannons. The shock was terrible, but the garrison stood its ground for three days. Eventually, the Germans overcame the resistance by placing charges beneath the domes. Inside, it was hell: 104 soldiers were asphyxiated. Visits – individuals and groups/bookings.

Late 12th century… Culture, confined within the abbeys, such as the Benedictine monastery of Mouzon, opened up to the outside world. Ways of thinking evolved and this phenomenon was also seen in art. Whereas the Romanesque is a style of balance, Gothic expresses verticality. The abbatial church of Mouzon was a fine example of this new trend. Only the church and the abbey gardens, in the French style, are open to visitors: the abbey itself has become a retirement home.

Discover history Mouzon is home to the very last French factory for the industrial manufacture of wool felt. The textile industry has been growing for over 150 years, thanks to the impetus of the Sommer Family. The Musée du feutre, labelled as a "Musée de France", was founded in 1988. It reflects the glorious era of the textile industry during the "Thirty Glorious Years" Discover techniques Felt is a thermal and sound insulator. It is a waterproof material used in many areas. Having witnessed the industrial past, the Museum presents a small scale reconstruction of a felting chain. There is also a workshop where schools, students and artists can work felt by hand. Discover art Since its inception, the Museum has established itself as a place of experimentation. With an invitation to contemporary artists, the museum discusses the many aspects of creation around felt: fashion styling, design, furniture, sculpture, murals...

The Sylvia Arduina may be untamed and inhospitable, but it nevertheless remained inhabited. This vast territory needed to be evangelised – so said the Frankish Kings! The hermits were the first scouts. One of them, Walfroy, settled in Margut. He was not alone… A few kilometres away, in the middle of the forest, monks founded Orval Abbey…
