Hiking trail "Cardalhac". Nicknamed “the little Nizza from Cantal", squeezed around its squat bell tower, the town of Maurs has retained the almost perfect circle shape given to it by its ramparts and which is now home to the welcoming Tour de Ville, built on the old moat. Take a stroll through its narrow streets with their southern flavour and discover its medieval architecture. Then head out into the surrounding area on the Cardalhac trail. You will appreciate the gentle landscape and the superb views over the Maurs Basin, the Mounts of Cantal, Lot and Aveyron. Hiking trail "The Causses trail" A small village perched on the remains of the old fortress, Montmurat is strongly influenced by the southern climate, which has given it an extraordinary flora: lily of the valley, boxwood, wild asparagus, vines and orchids. Take the time to stroll through the narrow streets of the village, the Mediterranean influenced architecture is remarkable. From the plateau (after the starting point, access on the D345), this path will also allow you to discover an exceptional 360° panorama of the Lot, Aveyron and Cantal. Hiking trail "The Chapel of Notre-Dame du Pont". The interior walls of the Chapel of Notre-Dame du Pont are covered with magnificent frescoes from the 12th, 13th and 15th centuries. On the part of the path along the Rance, the river is superb, strewn with rocks and pebbles. Hiking trail "La Croix del fût". The village is situated in a granite country, with meadows and crops alternating with wooded areas. In the hamlets of Belaubre and Enfour, you will discover the traditional habitat with its red-tiled houses, with outside staircases leading to the wooden balcony facing south, topped by the plancadou where corn and chestnuts used to dry. On arrival, you will walk along the pond where the legend of the village bells still hangs in the air, on which, one mysterious day, the waters closed in. Our little house is located on the edge of the village of Puy d'Arnac, near a farm. Activities: hiking, mountain biking, fishing, sightseeing. Nearby: Presque caves, Neanderthal man, Collonges- la- rouge, dams, Gramat zoo, Padirac chasm, Rocher des aigles and many more. Brive-Souillac airport is 33 km away.

Accommodation for 2 persons with a magnificent view on the Dordogne valley and the Hautefage lake. The house is comfortable and fully equipped. On the ground floor, the kitchen has a wood-burning oven, appliances and a door to the terrace; on the first floor, the living room has a fireplace and a dining table. On the first floor, two bedrooms: one with a bed in 160 and a smaller one that can accommodate a child. Shower room and independent WC.

As in many Châtaigneraie villages, Le Trioulou has a pretty church and a picturesque castle with turrets. But there's something, or rather someone, you won't find anywhere else: Mélia the bee!

Maurs is the southern version of Auvergne. It has a lilting accent and the town's appearance is more akin to its neighbours in Lot or Aveyron than to the other Cantal towns. It's not called the Little Nice of Cantal for nothing... The town is squeezed around the Abbey of St. Caesarius, a 14th century gothic vessel, and has retained the almost perfect circular shape of its ramparts. The abbey church contains the reliquary bust of Caesarius, a masterpiece of 12th century goldsmith's art, as well as a collection of beautiful wooden statues and sculpted stalls, unique in Auvergne. Wednesday visits in French at 10:30 am in July and August.

About 30 species of wild orchids are present on these few hectares which gather a quarter of the French flora and more than half of the Auvergne flora in orchids. The climate of the limestone mounds (former lake basin) located between Saint-Santin-de-Maurs and Montmurat is one of the mildest and driest in Cantal. These conditions give the landscapes, agriculture and natural environments a pronounced southern character. Free access on foot from the village of Saint-Santin-de-Maurs. The animal and plant species living on this Natura 2000 site are protected, so be careful.

In a protected environment, this charming and characterful place, classified as a sensitive natural area, lends itself to relaxation. The Moulin du Fau estate consists of approximately 7 hectares of land located on the banks of the Rance, about 1 km from the centre of Maurs. This site includes an old grain mill and a barn, a complex network of feeder and diversion canals, a fish pond and meadows. It's very easy to walk around the pond (about 1 km).

Museum on the unique history of the “double village” of Saint-Santin that delimits two communes, two departments, and even two regions! Marie-Pierre in Cantal and Pierre-Marie in Aveyron remember and share with you the daily life of the people of Saint-Santin at the end of the 19th century, a life that is strange, funny and moving...

Saint-Santin is an unusual village. It's hard to imagine driving through it, given its modest size, the fact that it is divided into two communes and straddles two départements and even two regions!

The church of Notre-Dame-de-Quézac, the magnificent decoration of which (half paintings, half marouflages) dates back to 1925, is home to one of the most famous Marian shrines in the Massif Central.

Not far from Maurs, we welcome you all year round, (booking required) and share with you our passion for animals. We fight animal suffering. We save animals from mistreatment, abandonment or other causes. We'll also introduce you to camelids - camels, dromedaries, llamas and alpacas. Guided tour of the Sanctuary: you enter each enclosure, unique to the Cantal region, and you'll be able to get up close and personal the animals, discovering them and petting them if they wish because this is their home and we owe them our respect. You can bring pieces of carrot, but above all, no bread. The sanctuary is home to goats, pigs and ponies, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs and peacocks.

Ruins of the estate of Naucaze built from the 12th to the 17th century. The castle is currently being restored. It still has a 12th century tower which is the oldest architectural element. Looted and burnt down in 1792, and visible from road D133.

L'Auberge de Mourjou, with its restaurant and guest rooms, has been open since 18 March 2024. Daily menu from Monday noon to Friday 2pm, and chef's menu Thursdays at 7.30pm, Fridays at 7.30pm, Saturday lunch and dinner, Sunday lunch. Booking recommended. Reservations recommended. You can also try the inn's pizzas and burgers, to eat in or take away! You can also ejoy our shaded terrace in fine weather. The chef's menu offers a choice of two starters, two main courses and two desserts, changing every week according to the season and her inspiration.
