It was built by Gabriel II de Montgommery. His father, Gabriel Ist, was known as the “Regicide”. The castle was built at the beginning of the 17th century. The reputation of the Avranches Garden is largely based on its privileged location. In 2005, as part of the Grand site du Mont Saint-Michel operation, a vast rehabilitation project began. The landscape architects remodelled the park to give it back its vocation as a garden of plants by designing 12 different areas ranging from the garden of camelias, rhododendrons, to maples area975, including the cherry blossom meadow and the School of fruits. The garden is accessible to people with reduced mobility. With signage suitable to lovers of botany and youngsters alike, convivial space and playground, the visitor will find there a lively place for everyone.
