This cycle route between Metzeral and Wintzenheim allows you to discover a product that has made the valley world-famous. To this day, Munster cheese is still produced in the tradition and passion of the men and women who have shaped this land. Rounded summits, high stubble fields, steep slopes and glacial lakes will accompany you on your discovery of the Vosges Massif.

Au départ du parking du Gaschney, petit sentier technique pour rejoindre le versant du Hinterschallern (rectangle bleu*). Montez jusqu’au Schallern puis traversez les pistes de ski pour aboutir à l’auberge du Schiessroth (triangle bleu). Plongez dans la descente technique qui vous mène au lac du Schiessrothried (rectangle rouge) avant de regagner le Gaschney (rectangle bleu). (*Les parcours trail utilisent essentiellement les sentiers balisés du Club Vosgien. Sur chaque secteur, suivez le symbole correspondant dans la direction indiquée.)

Start at the foot of the Panoramic reception building. Take the path beside the resort's technical building, which houses the snow groomers and snowmaking facilities, towards the Bronner ski lift, where you cross the line (with care, watch out for the poles on the way up and down!). A nice climb up to the Platzerwasel pass before starting your descent into the Widenbach forest, with beautiful views of the Vosges ridges at times! You'll arrive at the Schnepfenried farm inn at the other end of the ski area. Return to the heart of the resort to finish your loop around the Schnepf!

Start at the foot of the covered access to the Panoramic reception building. Drive along the resort's main road and parking lots before turning right onto the access road to the Deybach farmhouse inn. Walk past the inn and then, at the end of the parking lot, take the path along the edge of the forest, which will take you down to the bottom of the hill, where you can walk around the thatch. Return to the Grand Hêtre farm before returning to your starting point.

Departure from the Platzerwasel pass. A short out-and-back circuit takes you to the summit of Schnepfenried at 1258m. All this with a panoramic view of the Vosges mountains and the Alsace plain beyond. In fine weather, you can even see the Alps in the distance!

The route of the water cycle and water power is a journey on foot, following the flow of water to the mountain lakes. Discovery through educational panels of hydropower and its usefulness.

Starting in Munster, this is an athletic but not overly demanding route. A gentle slope at the start, following the cycle path to Turckheim, a pleasant wine-growing village... The first climb to Les Trois Epis takes in Niedermorchwihr and its church with its magnificent twisted bell tower. Then Labaroche and Orbey for the ascent to the Col du Calvaire. A 10km climb with some double-digit gradients... A route with magnificent panoramic views. The return journey takes in the Route des Crêtes, the jewel in the crown of the Vosges Massif, before reaching Munster via the Col de la Schlucht, with its rocky cliffs and uninterrupted views of the Ballons des Vosges.

Access: From Munster, follow signs for "Gérardmer - Col de la Schlucht". Once over the pass, take the first left towards "Route des Crêtes" and follow it for about 2 kilometers until you reach the resort parking lot. Departure point : Parking des Trois-Fours From the hut serving as the cross-country ski ticket office, continue on the access road to the inn before walking around the thatch to the Trois Fours belvedere and its view of the Alsace plain along the cross-country ski trail. Snowshoes allow you to travel outside the groomed tracks, thus avoiding the cross-country ski trails specially prepared for cross-country skiers. At the end of the stubble, you'll face the Hohneck, the third highest peak in the Vosges mountains, but perhaps the most emblematic! You'll then head towards the Trois Fours farm, before beginning a gentle ascent that takes you through the beech forests until you reach the top of the Schlucht chairlift, before finishing your loop with a gentle descent. The summit "Le Hohneck", 1363m, the highest of the Vosges, located in the city of La Bresse. From there you will see Alsace plain and when the weather is clear, the Black Forest and even the Alps.

Source of the Moselotte near the Thatch of Breitzhousen. Christina of Denmark, widow of the Duke of Lorraine Francis II and regent of Lorraine, drank it in July 1560. The stele visible at that location also marks the starting point of the water cycle circuit and hydropower. Document on this circuit available on request to the Bresse Tourist Office. At the edge of the route des crêtes, which can be closed for several days in winter depending on climatic conditions.

The Tourbière du Haut Chitelet, or Tourbière Charlemagne, is located below the route des crêtes, between the Col de la Schlucht and the Hohneck. It is accessible via the Jardin d?Altitude du Haut-Chitelet which offers a collection of more than 2,000 species of alpine flora: a duckboard equipped with a platform allows you to discover the site in complete safety. In addition, exhibition panels as well as a model to be manipulated will allow you to perfect your knowledge of the Vosges peat bogs.

Chapel with contemporary lines with its pyramidal shape and its glazed gable. It dominates, since 1960, the Shclucht pass. It has been awarded the label "Remarkable Contemporary Architecture". The chapel, by its great sobriety, calls for contemplation. Every summer, it hosts masses as well as a cultural program.

Built in 1904, it used to host the tramway coming from Gérardmer. Another line coming from Munster will be built until the border post and inaugurated in 1907. Very frequented by tourists, these tramways will not survive the two world wars. Today, the old station houses the French Ski School and the Vosges Departmental Fire and Rescue Service.

On the second floor of the new public reception area LE TÉTRAS 1139 (to be refurbished in 2021), is the Espace De Découvertes - SCHLUCHT 1139. This space offers an interactive and playful visit on the history of the pass and its landscapes, as well as on the High Vosges and its natural and cultural heritage. An invitation to rediscover this emblematic site of the Vosges Massif.

A major site linking the Vosges to Alsace, the highest pass in the Vosges mountains culminating at an altitude of 1139m. Starting point for hikes (GR5, Sentier des Roches...), crossing point of the famous Route des Crêtes which links the Col du Bonhomme to the Grand Ballon.

Located at the foot of the La Schlucht slopes, Le Tétras Bistro 1139 offers burgers, salads, comfort food and desserts of all kinds. A lunch menu, revisited each season, is sure to delight young and old alike. Home-cooked dishes made with local produce. The kitchen opens onto the dining room, and a cosy bistro-style room upstairs invites you to enjoy the view. A counter bar also offers savoury and sweet dishes throughout the day. Ideal for a well-deserved break between two ski descents or after your walk.

In a warm mountain atmosphere, Le Slalom welcomes you at the foot of the ski area, from morning to early evening, and even part of the night during night skiing sessions. Hot drinks and pastries by the fire or on the terrace, lunch on the go or a meal platter chosen from the various corner dishes on offer, pizza or dish of the day, grills, pasta, soups, desserts...
