Chestnut and White Queen Trail

Solve the mystery of the "White Queen" thanks to thematic boards along the track and through the woods of Chapulay and Devey. A strategic site between Savoy and Dauphiné since the Middle Ages, Château de Septème, its ramparts and gardens invite you on a historical walk from Antiquity to the Renaissance. This important medieval fortress has been in the same family for 250 years and still remains a great family home. More than 30 peacocks roam freely in the park and French-style gardens. From Vienne, head for Pont-évêque via the D502, then turn left onto the D75 to Septème. Departure from Septème village centre. Follow the Rue des Petits-Potaches, then turn left onto Chemin Cressonnières. At Le Moyer, pass the houses until the "Rambotière" post, then continue on the thematic path of the Reine Blanche (White Queen), through Bois de Chapulay (wood). At the end of the path, turn left, cross a road and continue straight ahead. Before reaching the main road, take the path on the right, then left on a dirt road. Cross the RD38 and go opposite towards "Laveyssin" then "Le Meillou". Turn left onto Route des Mitoyens and left again onto Chemin de la Plagne. At the end of the road, take Route des Remparts on your left. Turn right onto a dirt track to the road. At the next crossroads, go down the path to the left. At the post "Le Château", go along the château’s enclosure, then, after 100 m, you’ll reach the beginning of a path that’s not very obviously marked. Turn right onto the path which is very steep in places. At the crossroads, take the path to the wash house opposite, walk along the Vega stream and return to the start. Thematic trail of the Reine Blanche (White Queen): start from the picnic area of Bois de Chapulay (wood), 1.5 km south of Septème by the D38 (18 thematic markers on the animal and plant world).

Circuit of the Tower

Lovely walking tour sometimes through fields, sometimes underwoods or in the shade. Be carreful, few crossings on busy roads and respect fields. To see, the tower of Pinet and the Blaches forest. 1- Head along the tennis courts by a path which goes up to the post "Le Salin". Then turn right and reach the "Chez David" post. 2- Turn left and continue to climb the hillside by a track which enters the Blaches state forest. At the junction with a forest road, go right and join the D538 at the post "L'étang des Blaches". Turn right and then left on the road to Montseveroux. 3- Immediately turn left on the wide track which runs along a pond (private). Pass a first post "Les Blaches" and continue straight ahead. At the second post, turn left towards "Pinet". After two road crossings, reach the post "Tour de Pinet". > Variation to complete a small loop (5.7 km, 1hr45): go down to the foot of the Pinet Tower and continue to the hamlet of Pinet. Take a track on the left to "Le Salin". 4- Turn right and reach the post "Les crêtes". Turn left onto the gravel path that leads down the hillside to a road; go right to the end of the road and continue on a wide path in the undergrowth. Stay on this hillside path that borders the peaceful Combe de Vaux (Sensitive Natural Area). Take a partially paved track and then reach a hamlet. Continue to the right on the road and go up to the post "Le Paviot". 5- Go to Eyzin-Pinet. Go down to the D41 at the "Thibaud" post. Turn right and then, immediately after a bridge, turn left onto a farm track that joins the Gère stream. Cross at the ford and continue straight to join the hillside that you climb to join a road; follow it to the left. 6- After the houses, take the path on the crests. Then go down on a road that crosses a hamlet. In a dead end, take a wide grassy path on the right and reach the post "La Garde". 7- Turn left towards Eyzin-Pinet. After crossing the road, continue on a wide gravel road. Go along a poplar grove and cross the Gère again. Join a road on the hillside. 8- Go ahead on a path which climbs up to a road; take it to the right until you reach a crossroads. Continue up Colas hill and pass the houses before turning left onto a meadow path. Reach an isolated building that you go around on the right to find the post "Chez David". 2- Using the outward journey path, return to the starting point. Be careful when crossing busy roads. Respect the crops. Things to see: the Pinet Tower and Blaches state forest. Things to see: a curiosity, you’ll pass along an outsider art wall, created in the 1980s by a snake hunter.

Mes Voisins de Panier

If you want to buy products from a number of local producers without having to go from farm to farm, place your order online! The advantage? Benefit from products from around twenty farms in the area, with collection from a single farm! The order is registered at your nearest relay farm. You can find it easily on the website, on the "collection points" page and then see the list or map. Orders can be placed by telephone or by visiting a relay farm, no later than 8pm on a Saturday. For fresh produce, remember to bring a cool box or insulated bag and a basket to collect your vegetables. Packaging should be brought to the relay farms: egg cartons, glass jars (jam, milk bottles brought back clean, etc.), crockery pots, etc. Don't forget to bring the crates back too if you're taking them with you. The group is based on the following criteria: - the use of pesticides on crops is prohibited, - the use of sanitary treatments and antibiotics on animals is limited to those authorised in organic farming, - the use or purchase of products containing GMOs is prohibited, - The natural cycles of crops and animals must be respected, - wild and domestic biodiversity must be preserved, - priority is given to the production of animal feed on the farm, - the use of animal effluents to feed the soil, without pollution, is implemented, - renewable energies and fossil fuel savings are favoured, - self-sufficiency in plant and animal seeds is sought. On these points, some of which are more demanding than the "organic farming" specifications, each farm commits to development objectives to move towards farming that is even more respectful of nature and people. The exchange and dissemination of techniques between the different farmers in the group should enable everyone to benefit from the experience of others. More generally, in its links with consumers and the local area, the association will make it possible to: - limit transport by selling locally - introduce fair trade rules: a fair price for the consumer and a decent income for the producer, - promote consumer information by means of a liaison sheet, - involve consumers in the same way as producers in defining the association's objectives and decision-making processes.
