The Salagon priory, a major medieval site in Haute-Provence, features a 12th-century Romanesque church with contemporary stained-glass windows designed by Aurélie Nemours, a Renaissance dwelling and ethnobotanical gardens.

Since 1922, our mill extracts extra virgin olive oil, a genuine fruit juice, only with mechanical means to olive oil amateurs’ great joy. For more than 40 years we have been making cosmetics and soap made in a cauldron just like Marseille soap. The harvest of olives is done manually with hand and automatic combs to preserve olives quality. Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Nearly 400 olive growers bring their olives to supply you with: - Green fruity olive oil - Local olive oil All our products are available at our shop and online shop: olive oil, homemade products, Marseille soaps… We also make basil, mint and lemon oils. Olive oil sold at the Serres, Orpierre, Sisteron and Laragne tourist offices. We offer visits of our soap factory from April to September by prior arrangement.

These rocks, formed like heads, mushrooms, arches or bridges, have often inspired local writers by their strange appearance. Eugène Plauchud wrote, in Provençal, that they were men of stone. For Camille Arnaud, writing in French, they were the campsite of the Emir of the Moors. True local star, the grass-leaved scabious (Lomelosia graminifolia) is a plant found in the mountains of southern Europe. One can easily recognize its linear leaves such as grasses (its name has not been usurped!), by its beautiful blue flower heads blooming in late spring and summer, then by its fruits agglomerated into as many silver "cups ".

The Mourres site is populated by strange limestone concretions that sometimes resemble faces, hence the name "mourre", which means "face" in Provencal.

Often blooming from March, the Rock candytuft (Iberis saxatilis) is a subshrub (or dwarf shrub) recognizable by its white flower heads with its outer petals much larger than the others. Its species name ("saxatilis") represents it well because it is found clinging to the limestone rocks. Besides, it is the host plant of the caterpillar of a rare butterfly: : the Portuguese dappled white (Iberochloe tagis). This little butterfly with green and white marbled wings flies from February to June.

The Rochers des Mourres look like mushrooms with a friable clayey-limestone base and a hard and even limestone cap. These structures were formed by the stabilisation and the encrusting of calcareous sediments through aquatic grass and green algae on lakefronts, 25 million years ago. They have been growing vertically, following the fluctuations of the water level. The shaping of these sculptures so beautiful of Mourres are due to erosion.
