Explore this part of the Santiago de Compostela route and you'll see one of the best views in the region. This loop is packed with variety with woods, plateaus and ridges! There's a dolmen to visit that makes it a real treat for all the family.

An easy route on the right bank of the Gave of Oloron, very smooth in the middle of a floodplain very suitable for agriculture. The architectural heritage of the intersecting towns and villages is interesting, as they are some manors and castles near the route (all private): the castle of Peyré in These, the castle of Verlée in Ledeuix, the castle of Pédelaborde in Poey. Looking at the horizon, the mountains unfold peaks and peaks, this panorama of the Pyrenees will follow you all this route. This circuit hides only a real climb of a few minutes, the access to the Poey-d'Oloron hill. Otherwise, it is quite flat, with some false plains in the middle of the fields. The electric assistance will help you return if the shape is not yet at full blast in the early days of spring, or if a small mischievous wind seeks to slow your progress.

Don't be in a hurry to leave Oloron, the old and beautiful capital of the Haut-Béarn. But when you finally do, from the top of Sainte-Croix, you will face the indentation that the Gave d'Aspe has dug in the Pyrenean wall. It is precisely the one that the path you are going to take follows. Before, it will have wandered in the countryside. Then suddenly you enter a deep gorge, as intimate as you wish and hardly interrupted at the level of Sarrance, high place of Christianity as much as of the old Pyrenean religion... It opens, just as suddenly, in the immense breath that is in these reliefs the plain of Bedous.

This very beautiful sporting loop starting from Oloron-Saint-Marie gradually rises in altitude. It gently immerses itself in the Aspe valley, and joins the Barétous by small singular mountain roads. Then it's the big climb to the Col de la Pierre Saint-Martin which offers a breathtaking panorama!

Charming loop at the foot of the valleys of Aspe and Ossau. The profile is varied and the climbs remain very accessible. From plains to hillsides, from forests to agricultural plots, it is an ideal loop to discover the piedmont and its many riches, both human and natural.

A sublime VAE itinerary that follows the slopes of the mythical passes of the Pyrenees (La Pierre-Saint-Martin, Marie-Blanque, Aubisque, Soulor) and that crisscrosses the Pyrenean foothills to discover the treasures of the valleys of Barétous, Aspe, Ossau, Pays de Nay and Haut-Béarn: this is the program of this 230 km loop that circles the Béarn. You will be able to realize this circuit in stages, which you will adapt the length according to your capacities and your desires. It is also possible to split the itinerary into two parts to make an Eastern or a Western circuit, of about 150 km each, via the other thematic itineraries proposed in Bearn.

The loop of the Béarn hillsides by VAE is an ideal circuit to discover the Pyrenean foothills from Oloron, on a hilly and therefore relatively physical circuit. From plains to hillsides, from forests to agricultural plots, it will allow you to discover many human and natural treasures: the remarkable built heritage of Oloron Sainte-Marie, at the crossroads of the Aspe and Ossau valleys, the Bager wood and the Payssas arboretum, or the magnificent Jurançon vineyards which sunbathe against the backdrop of mountainous landscapes. Take advantage of this opportunity to have a wine tasting break in one of the domains along the way..

One of the appeals of this loop is that you start in the town then within minutes you can soak up the peace of the countryside. Plus there's the historical built heritage in the villages, mountain views as far as the Hautes-Pyrénées and you've got it all!

The last stage in Bearn goes down the valley of the Gave d'Oloron, sliding from one village to another on the agricultural plateaux. From the castle of Aren, in the Viscounty of Béarn, the jackfruit route now turns towards the neighbouring Basque Country. Travelling through deep, calm forests, it will first stop at the Hôpital-Saint-Blaise, a place of welcome historically dedicated to pilgrims on the Piedmont Route.

Don't be in a hurry to leave Oloron, the beautiful old capital of the Haut-Béarn region. But when you finally do, from the top of Sainte-Croix, you'll face the indentation that the Gave d'Aspe has carved into the Pyrenean wall. The path you're about to take follows this very indentation. Beforehand, it will have wandered through the countryside. Suddenly, you enter a deep, intimate gorge, barely interrupted at Sarrance, a Mecca of Christianity as well as ancient Pyrenean religion? Just as suddenly, it opens out into the immense breath of air that is the Bedous plain. This route is proposed by the Comité Régional de Randonnée Pédestre. Departing from a train station or TER bus stop, it allows you to join a walking or hiking itinerary, and take a stroll in ecomobility!

The Binet gîte is located in a small village in the Béarn region between the Aspe and Ossau valleys, about 15 minutes from the Barétous valley. Sleeping 2 people, the accommodation is on a working farm and adjoining the owner's property. It has 2 entrances, one on the courtyard side and the other on the garden side. It comprises a living room with TV, a fully-equipped kitchen, a bedroom with a 140x190 bed and a bathroom with walk-in shower. After your hike, relax in the garden on a deckchair or on the swing with mosquito net. Numerous hiking and mountain bike trails are within easy reach of the gîte, which is also 45 minutes from Spain.

The "Chez Nabas" gîte is located in a quiet area of the village of Féas, in the Barétous valley. At the edge of the woods, it's the ideal starting point for walks and bike rides in the countryside, just ten minutes from Oloron Sainte-Marie. The house can accommodate a family, with space for everyone. A double bedroom is on the first floor, and upstairs, the mezzanine offers three adjoining sleeping areas. Children have plenty of room to play in the enclosed garden, while parents can relax on the large wooden terrace. Outside, there's space for a plancha, while in winter you can enjoy a delicious raclette by the fire. Bikes are available for everyone, as well as a ping-pong table, skittles and various board games. A shuttle bus runs from the village to La Pierre Saint-Martin.

The Church of the Holy Cross bears witness to the Crusades and the viscountal city that Oloron was. Built at the end of the 11th century, in the heart of the "bourg de l'enclos", it is one of the city's must-see monuments It has a remarkable ribbed eight-pointed star-shaped dome of Mozarabic inspiration and an altarpiece in the Spanish Baroque style.

Southwest of Pau and 50 km from Spain, Oloron Sainte-Marie is a town in Haut-Béarn at the foot of the Pyrenees. Surrounded by hills, the town spreads out on the terraces of the alluvial plain of the Gave d'Ossau: Sainte-Marie district on the plateau, Sainte-Croix on the hill and Notre-Dame or Marcadet on the slopes of the right bank of the Gave. An organization to be admired from the Laclau bridge, one of the viewpoints over the city. In Oloron Sainte-Marie, around 1883, the arrival of the railroad led to the creation of a neighborhood around the station, including a public garden. It was presented as a garden for those who didn't have one, and a place to stroll for a new, elegant population. Combining rectitude, a sense of the picturesque and fantasy, it's a real attraction. There are statues, children's games and numerous events throughout the year.

Just a stone's throw from the town centre of Oloron Sainte-Marie, we welcome you to our ground floor apartment. Ideal for families, the courtyard and the terrace are closed, the children will be able to play quietly. The accommodation consists of a large living room with a sitting area and opening onto the terrace, a fully equipped American kitchen, a master bedroom with its bathroom, a bedroom with a double bed and an additional bedroom with two single beds. It has a second shower room and a large storeroom. All around, you will be able to stroll along the various marked paths or to discover Oloron and the nearby Pyrenean valleys.

The small house is located in one of the three historical districts of Oloron Sainte-Marie: "the Notre-Dame district", in our street reigns the atmosphere of a small village, the houses are nicely restored in the style imposed by the "art and history" classification. Oloron Sainte-Marie is located at the crossroads of the three valleys : Aspe, Barétous and Ossau in the heart of the Bearnese Pyrenees. The town has many points of interest, a superb media library not to be neglected, a Romanesque cathedral classified by UNESCO and the weekly Friday morning market is a 5-minute walk away. A Romanesque church of the 11th century is also to be discovered in the medieval district of Sainte-Croix. The town is 35 min. from the Pierre Saint-Martin ski resort and 1 hr. from Gourette or the Spanish resorts, the cross-country ski resort of Le Somport is 40 min. away.

60 m² apartment located on the first floor of the house with independent access in a quiet street with two free parking lots. Fully renovated and furnished, it comprises 2 bedrooms, one with a 160cm bed, the other with a bunk bed, i.e. two 80cm beds. A fully-equipped kitchen gives you total autonomy for a comfortable stay. This large house offers 2 rooms with 1 double bed and 2 rooms with 1 double bed + 1 single bed, all equipped with private sanitary facilities. A 5th room equipped with 4 single beds is also proposed in dormitory. On your arrival, you will be able to take a refreshment and relax in a pleasant garden with trees, observe the summits of the Aspe valley from the high terrace, before having a meal (on reservation) at our convivial table with a family cooking elaborated with fresh, organic and local products. At 2 minutes, you can enjoy the market or the shops and restaurants of the city.

The painter's suite is located in the center of Oloron Sainte-Marie, on the way from Arles to Santiago de Compostela and on the way to the Pyrenean Piedmont, in a 17th century house, typically Béarnaise. In the heart of the Notre Dame district, you are close to the market on Friday morning and a few steps from the media library and the square where the Gaves meet. For the musicians we put at your disposal our living room with piano and double bass. Passionate about painting, antiques and literature, we will be happy to exchange with you. You will enjoy the garden with its old orchard. Breakfast is served on a large terrace on the garden side.
