Typical Bresse farmhouse built in the late 16th century. Come and discover the farm in its new setting with a renewed tour route. Listed as a Historic Monument in 1930. A fine example of a half-timbered, wattle-and-daub farmhouse, dating from 1581, with an admirable cruciform gallery serving as a first-floor balcony. Its northern section was demolished shortly after 1900. The belfry is in the shape of a Romanesque pyramidal bell tower. Special feature: the well is equipped with a double crank handle, a reminder that the farm was once divided between two sisters whose relationship was far from cordial! Stroll around the vegetable garden, the orchard with its ancient varieties, and the corn and hemp crops.

Founded in 1866 by a group of local notables, this museum is situated in a beautiful 17th century town house. It has a fine art collection with intimate light-filled landscapes by the early impressionist Antoine Chintreuil; a room dedicated to calligraphy and to the works of Jacques le Roux; another room for popular arts and traditions. Our farm is open to share our passion for breeding: Charolais cows, wagyus (the best meat in the world) but also Selle Français sport horses. We are attached to the respect of the animals, the environment, the transparency. Wagyu, the legendary Japanese beef. "Waygyu" means "Japanese beef". This breed is at the origin of several production areas of exceptional meat (Kobe beef, Hida beef, Ishigaki beef...) spread over the Japanese archipelago. It is from the end of the XIXth century, after more than hundred years of prohibition, that the Japanese population began to consume the meat of oxen until then used for the agricultural work. The selection of this breed was based on the marbling of the meat but also on the docility of the animal. The respect of the animal and its environment are part of the Japanese Buddhist culture. One of the best beef in the world! The marbling (intramuscular fat) gives the meat its taste: its importance is a characteristic of the rustic breeds which is lost with the selection to increase the muscle mass. It explains the unequalled flavor of Wagyu beef and its exceptional smoothness. Moreover, this meat is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, including Omega 3. These are essential fatty acids that are beneficial to health and help prevent certain diseases. Wagyu cattle are particularly well cared for by avoiding any stress. They are fattened throughout their development to reach maturity at 3 years. The Charolais, an excellent traditional meat ! We also raise a herd of Charolais cattle, carefully selected for the production of quality meat. We reserve for direct sale, young cows of 4-6 years old which have had from one to three calves: this is what gives the most tasty and tender meat. They are fattened with the same quality feed as the Wagyu cattle and the duration of fattening (from 4 to 12 months) makes it possible to obtain a very marbled meat for the breed and thus very tasty. A breeding in the Ain. Our methods are based on the renowned tradition of Bresse breeding and combine all the best in terms of genetics, food, habitat and breeding methods in respect of the animal (and the employees). The farm provides the cows' food: natural meadows, artificial meadows (Swiss Mix), and cereals make up the base. The cows and their calves are raised in freedom in the meadows during the good season (March to November). We integrate in our breeding approach, the respect of the environment: implantation of hedges, manure treated by methanization and use of the energy thus supplied to dry the fodder in barn. We optimize the plant production by alternating the grazing by cattle and horses (thus reducing the parasite pressure). Finally, to remain in the Japanese culture, we take particular care to maintain the docility of the animals by a respectful and attentive domestication.

By the 40th day after mobilisation the German High Command expected to have brought the French and British armies to a decisive battle and destroyed them. This conclusion to Schlieffen’s famous Plan relied on the Russians taking at least this length of time to mobilise via their poor railway system. The BEF played a small but significant part in the battle of the Marne even though Field Marshall French had seriously contemplated removing his men from the action to reform and rest. However, this major battle was largely won through the determination and courage of the French soldiers and their leaders. The French snatched a conclusive victory from what looked like an imminent defeat. The German High Command failed in its attempt to capture Paris and force the French government to capitulate. The ‘race to the sea’ now followed, in which the Allies and Central Powers atempted to outflank each other. The line of trenches was then settled from the North Sea to Switzerland. The Allies and the Central Powers now knew that the war would continue far longer than they had thought. The next few years would be spent in learning how to fight a new kind of war with new weapons in the air and on the ground. The price of this process would be paid in blood.

The Chapel of St Elizabeth is a religious building of Catholic confession built in Mussy-sur-Seine.

At the gates of Champagne and Burgundy, nestling in a bend of the Seine, Mussy sur Seine is home to the richest, perhaps even the most original heritage of the Aube area. A medieval town fortified according to the wishes of local nobility and the bishops of Langres, Mussy sur Seine retains numerous interesting testimonies of its turbulent past, starting with its maze of picturesque alleyways, old houses and fortifications. The 13th century church, beautiful 16th century residences, a promenade and two 19th century castles set un well-designed grounds make up the other elegant part of the picture, made even more attractive by its surrounding vine-planted hillsides and woodlands.

In the Middle Ages, the Collegiate of St Pierre-es-liens had a chapter of 13 canons. Built in the 13th century, the 10 side chapels were added in the 16th century. Classified Historical Monument, it is a remarkable witness of the Gothic style.

This chapel is another example of a rich religious heritage present at Les Riceys for several centuries. This chapel has the particularity of having been built by a family for its own private use.

On the first floor: two double bedrooms, a single bedroom, a shower room and a toilet. There is also a closed courtyard beautifully flowered during the summer. A garage is at your disposal. The fuel oil heating and the electricity are included in the price of the stay. On your arrival you will find the beds made.
