South of the village, the stream known as La Rigotte disappears into a cavern and resurfaces 2 km downstream. This subterranean section of the stream is known as the “pertes”. Four caves, around 150 m away, make up one of the most important sites of the Palaeolithic period in Eastern France.
Both the geology (caves, subterranean river, cliffs) and prehistory (Magdalenian, around 15000 B.C) of this listed site make it an essential component for understanding prehistory, all while being a pleasant hiking destination for everyone. Permanent access
