Made in rough-hewn stone masonry, the presbytery is characterised, amongst other things, by gemeled window bays, which are today bricked up, but also by carriage gates protected by two wheel-guards. A semi-circular arch with a keystone in the middle on which the date 1548 is inscribed, displays the coat of arms of Jean Wormbs, who was formerly the parish priest before being elected to be the 27th Abbot of Rolduc Abbey, which governed the parish of Baelen. Another stone embedded above the double door pays witness to the presence of the priest Melchior Van der Steghe, who was the parish priest in Baelen in 1653 then, subsequently, was chosen by his peers to in turn become the 33rd Abbot of Rolduc Abbey.
