This chapel stands on the côte des Bures at an altitude of 370 metres. The "Bures" are the bonfires that were once lit on the high places, on Saint John's Day in summer and on Sunday known as "des Bures". The construction of the chapel dates back to 1890 and was due to the generosity of a pious family, a renowned sculptor from Saint-Mihiel, Chenin-Bichet was chosen to build this elegant neo-Gothic style chapel, topped by a 3-metre high statue with the Latin inscription "Sub tuum refugium confugimus" on its feet. This is a rather famous invocation to Mary, which is generally translated into French as: "Under the shelter of your mercy, we take refuge." The chapel is private property. The côte des Bures offers you a view of Lake Madine.
