Verdun's most modern church.
Built between 1963 and 1965 to plans drawn up by architect Jean-Louis Fayeton, the Church of Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc in Verdun represents the culmination of the construction of the Cité Verte, a district of multi-family housing built between 1957 and 1962. For this highly expressive project, both plastic and constructive, Jean-Louis Fayeton used bold forms made possible by the widespread use of reinforced concrete, left in its unfinished state.
