Built in 1897, it is set in the centre of the High Square close to the church. Its existence is due to the generosity of Pierre Louis Bonafy. This rich tradesman was troubled when he saw how difficult it was for the inhabitants going along a rocky path to fetch water, so he bequeathed the funds required for the village, perched on its hill, to have pure and abundant water at all times. This fountain that the people of Château Chervix call “the Margelle” is composed of a large circular basin where water flows permanently.
