Pange Castle

Description

South-east of Metz lies Château de Pange, rebuilt in the 18th century on the site of a medieval fortress. Set on the edge of the village, its austere ensemble mingles with the waters of the Nied Française. Designed by architect Jean-Baptiste Louis, the château was built in 1720 by Jean-Baptiste Thomas, Seigneur de Pange. The land was made a marquisate in 1766 by Stanislas, Duke of Lorraine, and is still occupied by the Thomas de Pange family. Historic monument. Garden belonging to the European "Gardens without limits" network.
