The medieval village was first established around the parish church built in the Romanesque period. The castle built later, attracted a large population, which found refuge in houses concentrated around the low courtyard, in order to benefit from the protection of the castle. The latter, one of the most important fortresses of the Gironde, was built between the 13th and 16th centuries. The dwelling with its large 16th century cross windows is nestled against the keep. The Saint-Pierre church, a beautiful church with a broken barrel vault, surprises by its long western facade of the XIIIth century pierced by a large door in broken arch. The village has an 18th century chapel, a few old houses, and near the castle, a curious house with a door decorated with sculptures symbolizing the vine and wine, one of the undisputed treasures of the commune, along with the Célestine cave.
