Village d'Arès

On the edge of the Bay of Arcachon, Arès was built around its port, the most important of the Bay for centuries. There remains a beautiful 18th century pier, lined with its old cannons, now dedicated to pleasure boating. In the town, you will find the Arès tower, an old windmill and the Ovniport, always ready to welcome aliens. A few steps away, the castle of Arès, the church of Saint-Vincent de Paul illuminated by the magnificent stained glass windows of Raymond Mirande and old houses like the house Bardet. The old airy house of Arès, created by the Wallerstein foundation to welcome children threatened by tuberculosis, is the result of a collaboration between the medical profession and a Parisian architectural firm. The buildings of the airyrium represent the archetype of all medical establishments for children built in France between the two wars.
