4 km from Neuvic Gare, this private castle in the Périgord Blanc, protected as an ISMH historical monument since 1991 for its 2,000 years of history, watches over the central crossroads of the Salembre valley from its strategic location.
Established on an old Gallo-Roman villa, its construction spans from the 13th to the 20th century. It was successively inhabited by the Jay de Beaufort, Labaume de Forsac and then Saint-Astier families. Its medieval dyke on a Gallo-Roman foundation is the only monument in the Dordogne selected by the first Mission Bern 2018.
Come and admire its 13th century knight's tower/dungeon, its Renaissance and later dwellings, its central staircase tower with its rare imperial roof, its galleries covering its entire facade, and its moats, part of a hydraulic system at the largest and unique origin in the Dordogne, elements of biodiversity and landscape markers.
