In latin "mons regalis" (a royal mount) means "a dominating position". This medieval village has an outstanding architectural heritage.
The castle built between the 12th and 16th century, was part of a former band of fortresses built around Largentière to defend the silver mines. The main tower rises up to the sky.
At the meeting of the Ligne and Roubreau rivers, you can admire the authentic Val de Ligne landscapes, where there are also some relatively easy walks across fields and woods.
